| The
Yellow-crowned Night Heron, Nyctanassa violacea, occurs across
much of the Eastern and Central US, eats crabs and prefers salt
water. This one is in the mangrove swamp at West Lake in the
Anne Kolb Nature Center, Hollywood, Florida. This swamp is an
important ecological preserve having the last remaining large
concentration of mangroves in the area. The Lake is an important
spawning ground for many varieties of fish. |
