| The
Tundra swan, cygnus columbianus, is one of two native American
swan species. It breeds in the Northern part of Canada and Alaska and
mates for life.
In late February and early March each year, thousands gather at the
Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area in Pennsylvania preparing for the
long flight to their nesting grounds. At the time I took this
picture, an estimated 4300 were present. |
