The Snowy Owl, Nyctea scandiaca, lives in the northern part of the Arctic and is the heaviest owl at four pounds.  It usually winters across much of Canada and the northern US but occasionally wanders further South.  This owl was at Stone Harbor, New Jersey, in April 2005.
