| This Peregrine Falcon,
falco peregrinus an endangered species,
lives on top of the highest building on Brigantine island NJ, the former
Brigantine Inn. In October 2003 I spent several hours behind
the curtain of my apartment window watching as he devoured two Northern Flickers
and then sat on the ledge. The Peregrine is the fastest bird alive,
attaining a speed of up to 250 mph in a dive to kill prey. |
