These Monarch butterflies, Danaus plexippus, are resting from the strong wind on Brigantine Island NJ in October 2005.   Monarchs migrate to the mountains of Northern Mexico for the winter.  Because of loss of forests and harsh winters the Monarch population has declined but appears to be recovering.
