from 1992 until march 2005 but I'm now upgrading to L lenses. It's traveled many miles and still is in great condition. There is one crack in the plastic ring near the outer element but that doesn't cause any loss of function. Because of the age some small amount of dust has seeped in but I haven't noticed that it's made a difference in photos. There are also a couple of cosmetic scratches. It still focuses quickly.
The zoom ring is sticky between 250 and 300 mm.
