A family of
Whooping Cranes, Grus
americana,
at the Funk Waterfowl Production Area in Nebraska not far from
the Rowe Audubon Sanctuary on the Platte River in Nebraska. The
juvenile is stretching its wings. This group is on its way from
the wintering grounds in Aransas National Wildlife Refuge to Wood
Buffalo National Park in Alberta, Canada. There are only 266 of
this species left in the wild.
