Brazilian Teal

______________________________________________

The Brazilian Teal, Amazonetta brasiliensis, (also know as the Brazilian Duck) occurs from Colombia to Argentina and Uruguay. They are found in pairs or small groups on lakes and pools normally away from the coast and close to dense vegetation.  The male is on the right.   This pair in a rice paddy near our hotel (which was a rice plantation) were the only ones we saw in the Pantanal.
