The Blue and Yellow Macaw (Ara ararauna) is the macaw most commonly seen in captivity  in the United States. Although they have suffered both habitat loss and persecution they are not presently threatened with extinction.   While we were watching the Hyacinth Macaw, a pair flew to the tree closest to our vehicle.
